Role Description

The Test Analyst is responsible for planning, designing, executing, and maintaining software testing activities to ensure the quality, functionality, and reliability of applications and systems. This role works closely with business analysts, software developers, product managers, and quality assurance teams to validate that software solutions meet business requirements, technical specifications, and user expectations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing business and functional requirements
  • Developing test plans
  • Creating detailed test cases and test scenarios
  • Executing manual and automated tests
  • Documenting test results
  • Identifying, tracking, and verifying software defects
  • Collaborating with development teams to resolve issues
  • Performing regression, integration, system, functional, and user acceptance testing to ensure software quality throughout the development lifecycle

The role involves validating application performance, usability, data accuracy, and system functionality across multiple environments and platforms. The Test Analyst supports release activities by ensuring testing is completed within project timelines, monitoring quality metrics, and providing clear recommendations regarding software readiness. The position also contributes to continuous improvement by identifying testing process enhancements, improving test coverage, maintaining testing documentation, and supporting the implementation of quality assurance best practices.

Success in this role requires strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, effective communication, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality software solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, quality assurance principles, and software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Knowledge of functional, regression, integration, system, smoke, sanity, and user acceptance testing methodologies.
  • Familiarity with test planning, test case design, defect management, and test execution processes.
  • Experience using defect tracking and test management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, TestRail, or similar platforms.
  • Basic understanding of SQL and the ability to validate data within databases.
  • Familiarity with API testing tools such as Postman or similar solutions.
  • Understanding of Agile, Scrum, or other iterative software development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of test automation concepts and familiarity with automation frameworks is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify, document, and communicate software defects clearly and accurately.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple testing activities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
  • Commitment to continuous learning, process improvement, and delivering high-quality software products.
  • High level of professionalism, accountability, and dedication to maintaining quality standards throughout the software development lifecycle.
