Test and Development Technician

Location: Scarborough

Our Vision & Why It Matters

At Alexander Dennis, our vision is to lead the evolution of sustainable on-road mass transportation and mobility.

We design, deliver, and support market-leading buses and coaches that help reduce emissions, improve air quality, and keep communities connected. Every role contributes to that mission, whether you're engineering, driving sales, improving production, or supporting our customers.

What You’ll Do

As a Technician in our Test & Development team, you’ll play a hands-on role in supporting the development and validation of our vehicles. Based in our Scarborough workshop, you’ll carry out electrical and mechanical tasks to prepare vehicles and test rigs for verification activities.

Working closely with engineers, you’ll:

  • Build, modify, and instrument vehicles
  • Support testing both on-site and at external facilities
  • Contribute directly to innovation, product quality, and performance

This is a varied and practical role in a fast-paced and evolving engineering environment.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a practical and self-motivated individual with a strong automotive engineering background. Key requirements include:

  • Experience working with electrical and mechanical systems
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings
  • Familiarity with fault-finding techniques

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
