Your Impact
The Training Academy has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented Test and Requirements Specialist to support the Simulation Learning & Support Services (SL&SS) Test & Evaluation (T&E) and Requirements Leads, in the delivery of high-quality Training Devices and Support Systems.
This role is central to ensuring that customer and system requirements are effectively captured, traced, verified, and validated throughout the project lifecycle.
The successful candidate will play a key role in:
- Coordinating and contributing to the development and execution of Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs).
- Generating evidence required to demonstrate compliance against System Requirements Specifications (SyRS) and contracted Stakeholder Requirements Documents/Specifications (cSRD/StRS).
- Supporting Requirements Management activities across projects, working closely with Technical, Requirements, and T&E Leads to ensure on-time, high-quality delivery to specification.
For internal awareness: This position is a JFF level 5.
As a SL&SS (UK) Test and Requirements Specialist, Your Role Will Include
In conjunction with the T&E Lead, you will:
- Coordinate and participate in the Test, Evaluation & Assessment (TE&A) of training systems to capture compliance evidence for functional and non-functional requirements, including regulatory criteria.
In collaboration with the Requirements Lead, you will:
- Assist in the Requirements Management process, including capturing, decomposing, validating, verifying, tracing, reporting, and maintaining the Requirements Verification & Traceability Matrix (RVTM).
In support of the Software (SW) development team, you will:
- Conduct Verification & Validation (V&V) testing before dispatching Leonardo-generated SW packages for system integration, ensuring high-quality functionality.
Your responsibilities also include:
- Assisting in the authoring of Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs) linked to the RVTM, tying test evidence to compliance declarations.
- Conducting and documenting Trial Run Testing (TRT) of ATPs at suppliers’ facilities and final training locations.
- Supporting accurate, timely documentation of TE&A activities for inclusion in SW release notes, bug descriptions, test reports, or compliance evidence.
- Coordinating and participating with Supplier/Customer test managers during Formal Testing phases, including Bug Closure, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and Site Delivery Testing (SDT).
- Ensuring proper documentation of testing efforts: Test Script provision, test equipment allocation, support coordination for Leonardo or Customer SQEP participation.
- Developing test scripts for integration/acceptance stages, covering all SyRS and StRS fully aligned with the RVTM.
- Authoring and executing data gathering activities, either in aircraft or on engineering rigs, while capturing accurate behaviour records.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
