Hybrid working pattern is ideally 1 day a week but will consider remote (occasionally travel to site required).

About The Role
We are looking for a Test Automation Engineer to join one of our delivery teams and contribute to the quality of our applications through effective automated and exploratory testing.
In this role, you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and executing automated tests within a product or team area. You will work independently on automation tasks while collaborating closely with developers, product owners, and analysts to ensure testing is well integrated into the delivery process.
This role suits someone experienced in test automation within a commercial environment and comfortable taking ownership of their work without the expectation of defining strategy or leading others.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automated UI test suites using Cypress and Selenium
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of Python-based automation frameworks
- Create and execute API automation tests to validate backend services and integrations
- Carry out manual and exploratory testing to support effective coverage and investigate complex scenarios
- Work closely with developers, product owners, and analysts to understand requirements and agree appropriate test approaches
- Participate fully in Agile ceremonies, including refinement, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
- Integrate and maintain automated tests within existing CI/CD pipelines
- Monitor test execution, investigate failures, and contribute to improving test reliability and maintainability
- Support test data management and test environment configuration where required
- Ensure test artefacts and documentation are accurate, clear, and kept up to date
- Continuously improve test coverage and automation effectiveness within the team

Essential Skills & Experience
- Commercial experience working as a Test Automation Engineer within an Agile delivery team
- Strong hands-on experience with Cypress and/or Selenium
- Experience using Python to support automated testing and frameworks
- Solid experience with API testing and automation
- Ability to analyse functional and technical requirements to determine appropriate test coverage
- Experience maintaining and extending existing automation suites
- Confidence working independently on automation tasks with minimal supervision
- Experience troubleshooting automated tests, particularly within CI/CD pipelines
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain testing outcomes clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- A pragmatic, quality-focused mindset with a good understanding of when automation adds value
Desirable Experience
- Experience working in financial services, fintech, or other regulated environments
- Familiarity with tools such as Postman, Xray, Jira, Confluence, AWS, and BrowserStack
- Experience with BDD approaches (e.g., Gherkin)
- Cross-browser and cross-device testing experience
- Experience working with third-party or offshore development teams
- Exposure to test automation in complex or legacy systems
