Location: Glasgow – 4 days onsite (Remote options pending IR35) Contract Duration: July – 31st December 2026 Work Type: Inside IR35 (Daily Rate) via Rockford Payroll Info for Contingent Workers


About the Role

Join Deloitte Operations for an engaging freelance assignment with a leading Investment Bank in Glasgow, focusing on User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for a Market Expansion programme in Payments.

As a Test Automation Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks for end-to-end (E2E) workflows. Collaborate with a cross-functional team to ensure seamless deployment, reliable test coverage, and optimised performance of our payments automation ecosystem.


Key Responsibilities

  • Automation & Infrastructure Maintenance
    • Maintain, orchestrate, and deploy automated test services
    • investigate root causes of technical failures
    • ensure robust operations across automation tools and environments

  • Core Technical Skills

    • Proficiency in Python (test scripting, API automation, integration testing)
    • Hands-on experience with Cloud hosting platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
    • Competence in Selenium/Playwright for web UI and API test automation
    • Advocate for code maintainability, modularity, and performance checks
  • Implementation & Extension

    • Expand pre-existing Proof-of-Concept (POC) automation into production services
    • Automate sanity testing workflows after each deployment/update
    • Optimise testing processes to prevent regression issues
  • Collaboration & Issue Resolution

    • Partner closely with subject-matter experts (SMEs) in the payments domain
    • Bring together diverse requirements to define and troubleshoot technical challenges
    • Document reproducibility guides (FAQs) for ongoing support
  • Performance Monitoring

    • Track tooling performance and query impact of feature releases
    • Identify and mitigate potential testing bottlenecks or degradation trends

Requirements

To qualify for this role, candidates must meet these critical competencies:

  • Minimum 2+ years of Test Automation Engineering experience
  • Strong hold of Python with experience in:
    • AWS/Lambda, parameterisation, TDD/BDD Open-regex
    • Copious test automation portfolio (군이자)
  • Proven Selenium/Playwright expertise and adaptability to new frameworks
  • A deep understanding of cloud infrastructure operations
  • Ability to synthesize business requirements with technical constraints

Bonus Awarded for:

  • Hands-on experience in payments/是商 domain flows
  • Familiarity with Fintech/aderWbanking-codebases (Jira, Azure DevOps integrations)
  • Eager mindset to upskill with AI-native and Gold-Booking variants
