Test Automation Engineer

Job Overview

Hybrid Working – 2-3 Days per Week Onsite (London, Hove, or Cardiff) 6-Month Fixed-Term Contract (with options to extend) Immediate Interview Process

We are looking for an experienced Test Automation Engineer to join a leading organisation undergoing a significant digital transformation programme.

This role is perfect for someone who:

  • Enjoys working across manual and automation testing
  • Has experience building automation frameworks from scratch
  • Thrives in a collaborative Agile environment

The Role

As a Test Automation Engineer, you will:

  • Play a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of business-critical applications
  • Design and implement robust automated test frameworks
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and product teams to drive a quality-first approach
  • Support manual testing activities where required

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated testing solutions
  • Build scalable test automation frameworks from scratch using:
    • TypeScript
    • Playwright
  • Implement and maintain visual regression testing using Percy
  • Collaborate with developers and stakeholders to define:
    • Test strategies
    • Acceptance criteria
  • Identify, log, and track defects through resolution
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of:
    • Testing processes
    • Tools
    • Quality standards
  • Support Agile delivery teams to embed quality throughout development

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in both Manual and Automation Testing
  • Hands-on expertise in:
    • TypeScript
    • Playwright
    • Percy (Visual Testing)
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Software testing methodologies
    • Best practices
  • Experience working within Agile delivery environments
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Desirable Experience

  • Working within large-scale enterprise environments
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Knowledge of:
    • Performance testing
    • Accessibility testing
    • API testing
