Test Automation Engineer
Job Overview
Hybrid Working – 2-3 Days per Week Onsite (London, Hove, or Cardiff) 6-Month Fixed-Term Contract (with options to extend) Immediate Interview Process
We are looking for an experienced Test Automation Engineer to join a leading organisation undergoing a significant digital transformation programme.
This role is perfect for someone who:
- Enjoys working across manual and automation testing
- Has experience building automation frameworks from scratch
- Thrives in a collaborative Agile environment
The Role
As a Test Automation Engineer, you will:
- Play a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of business-critical applications
- Design and implement robust automated test frameworks
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and product teams to drive a quality-first approach
- Support manual testing activities where required

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automated testing solutions
- Build scalable test automation frameworks from scratch using:
- TypeScript
- Playwright
- Implement and maintain visual regression testing using Percy
- Collaborate with developers and stakeholders to define:
- Test strategies
- Acceptance criteria
- Identify, log, and track defects through resolution
- Contribute to continuous improvement of:
- Testing processes
- Tools
- Quality standards
- Support Agile delivery teams to embed quality throughout development
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in both Manual and Automation Testing
- Hands-on expertise in:
- TypeScript
- Playwright
- Percy (Visual Testing)
- Strong understanding of:
- Software testing methodologies
- Best practices
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Desirable Experience
- Working within large-scale enterprise environments
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Knowledge of:
- Performance testing
- Accessibility testing
- API testing
