Test Automation Engineer

Hybrid Working – 2-3 Days per Week Onsite (London, Hove, or Cardiff)
6-Month Fixed-Term Contract with options to extend

We are looking for an experienced Test Automation Engineer to join a leading organisation undergoing a significant digital transformation programme.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across both manual and automation testing, has experience building automation frameworks from scratch, and thrives in a collaborative Agile environment.

The Role

As a Test Automation Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of business-critical applications. You will be responsible for designing and implementing robust automated test frameworks, while also supporting manual testing activities where required.

Working closely with developers, business analysts, and product teams, you will help drive a quality-first approach throughout the software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated testing solutions.
  • Build scalable test automation frameworks from scratch using TypeScript and Playwright.
  • Implement and maintain visual regression testing using Percy.
  • Collaborate with developers and stakeholders to define test strategies and acceptance criteria.
  • Identify, log, and track defects through to resolution.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes, tools, and quality standards.
  • Support Agile delivery teams to ensure quality is embedded throughout development.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience in both Manual and Automation Testing.
  • Proven experience building automation frameworks from the ground up.
  • Hands-on expertise with:
    • TypeScript
    • Playwright
    • Percy (Visual Testing)
  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and best practices.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working within large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Knowledge of performance, accessibility, or API testing.
