About the Role
Rewarding and customer-facing, this position supports the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) programme, which administers driving theory tests across the UK. You’ll play a crucial role in:
- Ensuring secure assessments for prospective drivers
- Maintaining the integrity of theory tests (1.7+ million per year)
- Providing invigilation, operational support, and high-quality candidate service
You’ll be working in Reed in Partnership’s Chesterfield Theory Test Centre—an essential part of the transport system. As a Test Centre Associate, your work directly impacts thousands of driving test candidates nationwide.
Key Responsibilities

Candidate Support & Administration:
- Deliver excellent customer service to candidates
- Verify bookings, check ID documentation, and confirm arrangements via our booking system
- Familiarise candidates with test procedures and address their queries

Test Delivery & Security:
- Invigilate and supervise tests to ensure protocols are followed
- Review and manage test schedules, ensuring smooth test centre operations
- Maintain security standards in line with DVSA guidelines and internal policies

Diversity, Accessibility & Safeguardaing:
- Support candidates with disabilities in accordance with the Equality Act and D&I policies
- Handle incidents— document concerns and report escalations promptly

Operational Duties:
- Perform daily opening/closing checks of the test centre
- Maintain a secure and welcoming environment
Your Work Schedule
Flexible, part-time, or occasional shift-covering opportunities are available for experienced professionals. Shifts vary to suit candidates’ demand, operating most days (typically Monday to Saturday) with frequent evening/weekend commitments.
Typical shift patterns:
- Mornings: 08:30–13:00/14:00
- Afternoons: 12:30/13:00–17:30/18:30
- Full Days: 08:30–17:30/18:30
- Evenings: 16:30/17:00–20:30/21:30
- Combined Afternoon & Evening: 12:00/13:00–20:30/21:30
The Chesterfield centre typically opens six days a week, with core operational hours aligned to driver demand.
