About the Role
Looking to elevate your customer service skills and make a meaningful difference? Our Test Centre Associate role in Portadown is perfect for you! This role supports the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) programme, providing secure assessment of prospective new drivers for the Department for Transport. With over 70 test centres nationally, we deliver 1.7 million+ driving theory tests per year—ensuring compliance, security, and smooth candidate experiences.
As a Test Centre Associate, you’ll ensure exams are efficiently delivered and that all DVSA regulations are adhered to. Your responsibilities will include invigilation, customer service, and maintaining test integrity.
Responsibilities
- Invigilate driving theory tests and monitor test integrity to meet DVSA standards
- Provide high-quality customer service, offering support and clarifying test procedures to candidates
- Verify candidate identification and manage bookings through the testing system
- Supervise and support the assessment process in line with security protocols
- Practice diversity and inclusion by ensuring services meet individual candidate needs under the Equality Act
- Handle incidents related to testing, reporting concerns as necessary
- Perform daily centre duties, including opening/closing procedures

Requirements
To succeed in this role, you must possess:
- A valid UK driving licence (driving not required in all locations)
- Proven expertise in delivering exceptional customer service
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure
- Experience multitasking and handling diverse customer groups in a professional manner
- Decision-making skills, particularly when resolving challenging situations
- Flexibility to adapt to various shifts, including evenings and weekends
- Competency in handling confrontation with diplomacy and composure

Flexible Work Schedule
This Test Centre Associate role in Portadown operates on a part-time or occasional basis, offering varied shifts to suit your schedule. Typical shift times include:
- Morning: 8.30 AM – 2 PM
- Afternoon: 12.30 PM – 6 PM
- Full day: 8.30 AM – 6 PM
- Evening: 4 PM – 9 PM
- Mixed shifts: Evening hours including afternoons

Operating days range between two and three days per week, with frequent adjustments based on demand. Core operating days are currently Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and—depending on demand—Tuesday or Saturday. As a result, flexibility across all shifts is crucial.
