Test Engineer

Test Automation Engineer London – Hybrid Working SC Clearance Required Salary: £65,000–£75,000


About the Organisation

We are partnering with a highly respected technology consultancy specialising in delivering secure software and engineering services for UK Government and defence programmes. Their focus is on mission-critical data in highly secure environments, working with national security, intelligence, and defence customers. The team operates using modern Agile and DevSecOps practices, delivering resilient software solutions with the latest technologies.

The Opportunity

This role offers an exceptional opportunity to:

  • Work on highly complex technical projects in defence, intelligence, or security.
  • Be a key player in improving software quality through automation.
  • Collaborate across stakeholders and engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

You will need:

  • SC Security Clearance.
  • Skilled experience in secure government or defence environments.

The position requires 4 days in the London office and 1 day of hybrid working.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Implement Automated Testing:

    • Develop automated test frameworks using Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar tools.
    • Create and execute automated API and UI test suites.
  • Support Testing Activities:

    • Assist in functional, integration, regression, system, and acceptance testing.
  • Integration with DevOps:

    • Embed automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery.
  • Planning and Reporting:

    • Develop test strategies, plans, and cases from business/technical requirements.
    • Investigate, track, and report defects, ensuring resolution.
    • Generate test reports, quality metrics, and release assurance documentation.
  • Collaboration:

    • Work closely with Agile delivery teams during sprint planning, refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.
    • Promote best practices in automation and continuous improvement.

Experience Required

  • Core Automotive Skills:
    • 5+ years in software testing and automation.
    • Hands-on experience with Selenium, Cypress, Playwright or similar.
    • Testing APIs and modern web applications.
    • Proficiency in Java, JavaScript, or similar programming.
    • Experience in Agile and DevSecOps environments.
    • Expertise in CI/CD pipelines and automated quality assurance.

    • Experience in secure government, defence, or national security environments is highly desirable.
