As we celebrate this milestone, we’re continuing to invest in our people, our laboratories and our technical capabilities and we’re now looking for a Test Engineer to join our PPE Product Testing Team in our Hemel Hempstead Laboratory. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in protecting lives by ensuring personal protective equipment meets the highest standards across safety, quality and performance. Key Responsibilities Test in line to specific standards, procedures or client needs. Maintain traceable records and results. Produce project status and quality test reports. Liaise with calibration department on the maintenance and use of the correct equipment to carry out testing. Report and escalate issues in testing which impact performance or quality of results. Liaise with clients, and advise on the status of work to facilitate premier customer service & on-time delivery on all work and projects. Respond to customer queries and provide technical support. Develop technical skills to enhance own skills & ability to carry out testing work across a wide variety of laboratories, equipment and standards or client bespoke requirements. Collaborate and communicate with colleagues, suppliers, locations, and clients to facilitate a seamless service through the whole BSI supply chain. What We’re Looking For Degree/HNC/HND (or similar) in a Mechanical, Engineering or Scientific discipline or equivalent industry experience in a 17025 test environment. Good communication skills and the ability to write clear and concise reports. Positive customer focused approach to work and communication with colleagues. Good level of computer literacy and working knowledge of MS Office or equivalent. Strong writing skills - to write clear and concise reports. Ability to work as an individual or as part of a team to tight time scales. Knowledge or familiarity within a lean /continuous improvement focused culture and tools. Do you want a role where you'll be able to interact with people, as well as machinery? BSI has a fantastic opportunity for a Test Engineer to join us at our Hemel Hempstead labs, working within our PPE testing team. Our Personal Safety Team works primarily with PPE, with three key areas - Latex, Headwear and Eyewear. You'll test a variety of products, from condoms, to equestrian helmets to safety goggles to ensure that they conform to required safety and quality standards. You'll need to be able to operate the machinery (including the ability to resolve day to day maintenance issues) record detailed testing results and also liaise with clients to advise the outcome of their product testing. About You

  • A drive for development is key as you'll be given the opportunity to develop technical skills to work across a wide variety of laboratories, equipment and standards or client bespoke requirements. - Ideally, you will have previous experience as a test engineer - or have worked in a mechanical discipline and/or have a Mechanical Engineering qualification - You'll be able to build relationships with clients, understand their requirements and then deliver this work autonomously. You'll also have strong interpersonal skills to confidently liaise with clients, and advise on the status of work to facilitate premier customer service and on-time delivery on all work and projects. You'll be resourceful and solution orientated, proactive and flexible, and have great attention to detail. If you have knowledge of Lean culture, it will prove beneficial Interested?
