Job Description

We have been contracted to undertake the design and build of a dedicated Security Operations Centre (SOC) to support the cyber defence of a major international defence programme. The information, systems, and networks to be protected will be a mix of Microsoft Cloud services and on-premises data centres straddling multiple regions and classification levels.

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic individual with excellent technical and client-facing skills to act as a combined Engineering, Test, and Customer Acceptance Manager. In this role, you will manage the internal engineering lifecycle as well as plan and lead customer acceptance activities.

Your responsibilities will range from providing input into design and implementation plans and authoring key engineering artefacts to resourcing the team, advising on design, deploying new solutions, and working directly with the client to agree on the basis for acceptance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engineering Oversight: Ensure the programme's engineering activities adhere to both internal and external expectations.
  • Team Management: Size, task, and manage the engineering team to meet project expectations; provide mentorship and support.
  • Strategy Definition: Define the internal test strategy, as well as the Customer Acceptance Strategy and process.
  • Client Acceptance: Lead acceptance activities directly with the customer and negotiate to ensure acceptance is not unnecessarily delayed.
  • Documentation & Release: Review and approve all required documentation as part of a release or change (including design, deployment, configuration, and administration guides).
  • Test Procedures: Develop test procedures to verify that solutions meet both functional and non-functional requirements.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Security Vetting & Eligibility

All applicants must, as a minimum, achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Many roles require higher levels of National Security Vetting. Applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK (depending on the vetting level required) to allow for meaningful security checks. Please note that these roles are subject to both security and export control restrictions. Factors such as nationality, dual nationalities, and place of birth may restrict eligibility for certain positions.
