Test House Supervisor
Test Laboratory Manager (UKAS Compliant)
Impact of the Role
To manage the test house-laboratory day-to-day while maintaining UKAS quality management systems.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with procedural requirements, health, safety, and environmental best practices for testing operations.
- Identify hazards, manage risks, and enforce appropriate risk-mitigation measures.
- Lead by example in all business areas, prioritising safety with active engagement from colleagues and seeking ways to reduce risk and improve safety performance.
- Develop and maintain systematic processes for testing team operations, scheduling, and the generation of quotes and reports.
- Manage testing capacity to accommodate:
- Customer indicative testing
- UKAS-accredited testing
- Competitive analysis
- Development and audit test requirements
- Maintain an efficient test quotation and booking system with transparent lead times; ensure service compliance is met.
- Responsible for test laboratory maintenance and improvements, including test fixtures and documentation.
- Collaborate with Quanex group entities to provide testing services globally for Regional of Worldwide (RoW) product ranges.

Key Skills & Requirements
- Proven experience in supervising quality systems at UKAS level
- Strong structured problem-solving, including root cause analysis and preventive action implementation
- Ability to technically appraise Quanex and competitor products
- Continuous improvement mindset and strong people skills
