Test House Supervisor

Test Laboratory Manager (UKAS Compliant)

Impact of the Role

To manage the test house-laboratory day-to-day while maintaining UKAS quality management systems.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with procedural requirements, health, safety, and environmental best practices for testing operations.
  • Identify hazards, manage risks, and enforce appropriate risk-mitigation measures.
  • Lead by example in all business areas, prioritising safety with active engagement from colleagues and seeking ways to reduce risk and improve safety performance.
  • Develop and maintain systematic processes for testing team operations, scheduling, and the generation of quotes and reports.
  • Manage testing capacity to accommodate:
    • Customer indicative testing
    • UKAS-accredited testing
    • Competitive analysis
    • Development and audit test requirements
  • Maintain an efficient test quotation and booking system with transparent lead times; ensure service compliance is met.
  • Responsible for test laboratory maintenance and improvements, including test fixtures and documentation.
  • Collaborate with Quanex group entities to provide testing services globally for Regional of Worldwide (RoW) product ranges.

  • Proven experience in supervising quality systems at UKAS level
  • Strong structured problem-solving, including root cause analysis and preventive action implementation
  • Ability to technically appraise Quanex and competitor products
  • Continuous improvement mindset and strong people skills
