Test Technician – Production
Position: Test Technician Contract: Contract/Fixed Term – 6 months (possible extension into a permanent position) Salary/Package: £30,500 - £38,500 Location: Gateshead, North East Industry: Automotive

PRS Engineering have partnered with a global electric motors, power electronics, and energy storage manufacturer leading the way in sustainable energy solutions. Their mission is to accelerate the transition to a cleaner future through innovative, high-performance technologies.
The company operates across North America, Canada, the UK, and India, supporting industries including off-highway, commercial vehicles, rail, marine, and automotive. They serve global markets with mission-critical equipment for mobility solutions.
As a Production Test Technician, you will support the End-of-Line (EOL) testing of components while collaborating with Manufacturing Engineering on optimisation and innovation. This role blends hands-on technical work with continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

System & Component Testing:
- Perform system and component-level testing of motors, inverters, and related components to ensure quality production delivery.

Test Equipment Development:
- Develop and refine manufacturing test equipment for high-performance motors, pumps, and fans.
- Support commissioning of new test setups and processes.

Production Support:
- Work with manufacturing teams to meet daily production targets and deliver high-quality, compliance-certified components.
- Assist in troubleshooting and fault-finding on test systems and production lines.

Technical Documentation:
- Create work instructions for testing and maintenance procedures.
- Validate test data to ensure accuracy and compliance with Work Instructions, SOPs, and control plans.

Maintenance & Continuous Improvement:
- Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on test equipment.
- Support cycle time reduction and throughput improvements (FPY, downtime reduction).

- Process & Compliance:
- Follow and ensure adherence to engineering drawings, schematics, and company standards.
- Comply with all HSE legislation, local policies, and manufacturing procedures.
Requirements & Skills
Minimum Qualifications
- A recognised qualification in any of the following:
- English Literature
- English Language
- Maths
- ICT, or relevant industrial experience (training will accompany the role).
Core Skills & Attributes
- Strong ability to follow technical instructions and schematics.
- Aptitude for quick, professional problem-solving.
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Ability to use initiative and work autonomously.
Bonus (Preferred Experience)
- Experience in a manufacturing environment (full training will be provided if necessary).
- Hands-on experience with equipment maintenance.
- Familiarity with hand and power tools.
