Testing & Recovery Analyst

<h1>Job Description: Testing & Recovery Analyst – Tesco Bank Technology Resilience Team</h1>

Purpose of the Role

To develop, implement, and maintain an effective resilience strategy and Operational Recovery Planning, aligned with industry-leading standards, controls, and regulatory expectations. This ensures Tesco Bank’s ability to respond and recover key business services during severe but plausible disruption scenarios, minimises impact on customers, clients, colleagues, and the broader market.


Key Accountabilities

  • Socialise and implement the resilience strategy and framework across the firm, ensuring compliance for all stakeholders (e.g., Single Major Risks (SMRs), business resilience role owners, and employees).
  • Develop and enhance resilience, crisis, and incident management frameworks to improve recovery capabilities, ensuring Important Business Services remain operational during disruptions, reducing impacts on customers, clients, and the market.
  • Improve Operational Recovery Planning and Security Incident Management standards based on best-practice industry trends, emerging threats, and regulatory requirements (FCA, PRA).
  • Provide oversight and oversight improvements for business and technology recovery capabilities, including third-party/shredity assessments, to mitigate impact tolerance risks.
  • Communicate the firm’s resilience position—including risks and risk remediation—through dashboards and scorecards to inform decision-making at the board level, executive committees, and business stakeholders.
  • Advanced testing and verification of resilience and recovery capacities to demonstrate adherence to impact tolerance thresholds for key services.
  • Ensure resilient service/product development via change management processes (e.g., NAPAs (Net Assessable Profit Adjustments), DRAs, and analysis of material changes).
  • Continuously monitor resilience, crisis, and incident trends, aligning with evolving regulatory guidelines and emerging threats.

Incident and Threat Response Duties

  • Lead incident management by identifying and resolving critical threats to services, operations, infrastructure, employees, and clients.

  • Respond to high-risk incidents with mitigation strategies, prioritised by their potential impact on the bank.

  • Document and analyse prior incidents—steps taken, outcomes, and lessons learnt—to refine contingency plans and prevent recurrence.

  • Oversee reporting mechanisms to identify yet-unresolved threats, ensuring aligned proactive and reactive strategies.

Job-Specific Roles (Testing & Recovery Analyst – Tesco Bank Technology Resilience)

Responsibilities

  • Design and test disruptive scenarios, collaborating with Testing Managers and business stakeholders.
  • Analyse potential impacts on customers and financial services, identifying risk weaknesses in resilience strategies.
  • Deliver actionable recovery plans and up-to-date evidence-informed stakeholder reporting.
  • Draft regulatory self-assessments, audit-readiness criteria, and management dashboards.
  • Maintain real-time alert systems, syndicate findings, and ensure workshops conform to agreed audit requirements.

Critical Skills for Success

  • Deep Operational Resilience experience, particularly within FCA/PRA regulatory environments.
  • Hands-on experience with realistic testing simulations, workshops, and business continuity exercises.
  • Reporting competence—structured and transparent summary documents, management report decks, and remediation action plans.
  • Certification or expertise in ServiceNow is highly valued.
  • Knowledge of IT contingency planning (Tiered-Raging recovery plans) and end-to-end operational workflows.

Preferred Competencies

  • Risk analysis, resilience gap identification, and process improvement.
  • Understanding of both operational and cyber resilience risks, including threats to data integrity and SME systems.
  • Lessons-learned evolution: experience refining incident response frameworks based on past disruptions.
