I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
What the role is
This is a Corporate new business role targeting clients from £5m to £500m turnover, with a particularly strong sweet spot above £50m. The brief is to get out in the market, build relationships, win quality business and grow a proper book, but to do it with a setup that gives you every chance of succeeding.
A key part of the role is working closely with a long-established, nationally embedded introducer network that is already active in your region. These are warm, proven channels with existing relationships and a steady flow of high-quality opportunities, so it is less about building from scratch and more about switching it on locally, building on what is already there and converting that consistent pipeline into new business.
Who this is for
- Established Development Executives who want a better platform
- Account Executives with real sales edge who want to move into new business
- Insurance professionals who back themselves
- DE's or AE's who want the support to become top producers
