The Government's flagship Building Safety Bill received royal assent on 28th April and is set to become law. Aimed at providing a generational change in the construction industry to improve health and safety of residential buildings, it will also have a profound effect on how Building Control Bodies operate with the introduction of the Building Safety Regulator as part of the Health & Safety Executive to enforce regulatory regime for residential buildings over 18m in height, and ensuring competence for both building control bodies and individuals working in the building control profession.
