We are looking for a Bookings Administrator in our York Hospital who will be responsible for administering a large volume of email requests from referrals to appointments, ensuring the hospital meets its service deliverables while exceeding customer expectations. Preferably, you will hold a NVQ level 2 in Business and Administration or equivalent and experience of working in a customer-facing environment, to help us build a healthier nation.
The Person
You will be required to ensure excellent customer service and a professional attitude at all times, have a sympathetic/reassuring manner, and excellent communication skills. You will undertake a wide array of tasks pertaining to the role and so an ability to prioritize will be essential. Due to the nature of the role, discretion and confidentiality are vital.

The Role
Key duties will include:
- Patient registration
- Ensuring accurate data input
- Making Theatre Bookings and Pre-assessment appointments
- Dealing with telephone enquiries from patients, medical secretaries, and consultants
- Ensuring theatre allocation, theatre utilization, and bed management is accurately recorded
- NHS contract management
As our Bookings Administrator, you will:
- Management and validation of elective waiting lists, ensuring compliance with NHS targets and patient pathways.
- Accurate input and maintenance of clinical and patient data across relevant hospital systems.
- Effective monitoring and optimization of theatre utilization to maximize capacity and efficiency.
- Coordination and management of pre-assessment appointments to support timely patient care.
- Proactive bed management to facilitate patient flow and support operational service delivery.
- Responding to telephone enquiries from patients, consultants, and medical secretaries in a professional and timely manner.
- Monitoring and supporting NHS contract activity, ensuring delivery against agreed performance and service targets.
