About the Role
Goring Hall Hospital in West Sussex is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading private healthcare provider with a nationwide network of hospitals and clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other independent provider in the UK.
We are seeking a Theatre Practitioner (bank role) to join our team on an "as and when required" basis, supporting staff during busy periods, annual leave, or absence.
Key Responsibilities
- Pre-theatre support:
- Assist the surgical team by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility, anticipating surgeon needs, and ensuring equipment safety.
- Anaesthetic support:
- Collaborate with the Anaesthetist in equipment preparation, patient monitoring, airway management, and positioning.
- Post-op recovery:
- Provide care by monitoring vital signs, managing pain and nausea, and ensuring patient readiness for discharge.
- Safety & compliance:
- Strict adherence to infection prevention and control policies.
- Theatre setup:
- Prepare operating theatres according to surgery type and patient-specific requirements.
- Equipment checks:
- Inspect all surgical and anaesthetic equipment before use, and report faults immediately.
- Teamwork:
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe and efficient surgical procedures.
- Environmental support:
- Maintain a positive, respectful, and efficient theatre environment.

Essential Requirements
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Nurse or with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Operating Department Practitioner (ODP).
- Experience or training in a theatre environment (e.g., scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery).
- Knowledge of infection control, manual handling, and patient safety principles.
- Ability to work under pressure, problem-solve quickly, and adapt to dynamic changes in theatre.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to safe surgical practice.
