Theatre Practitioner

Overview

Ross Hall Hospital in Glasgow is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics.

Part-Time, Permanent Position – 30 hours per week, with a flexible shift pattern. Salary up to £37,500.00 FTE per year, depending on experience, training, and qualifications.

An opportunity exists for a Theatre Practitioner to join their team in the Theatre department.


Responsibilities

Assist the surgical team by:

  • Preparing instruments and maintaining sterility.
  • Anticipating surgeon needs and ensuring equipment safety.
  • Supporting the Anaesthetist in managing anaesthetic equipment, patient monitoring, airway management, and positioning.
  • Providing post-operative care, including:
    • Monitoring vital signs.
    • Managing pain and nausea.
    • Ensuring patient discharge readiness.

Additionally:

  • Adhere to infection prevention and control policies at all times.
  • Set up operating theatres based on surgery requirements and patient needs.
  • Check and report faults on all surgical and anaesthetic equipment prior to use.
  • Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and efficient surgical schedules.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and efficient theatre environment.

Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).
  • Experience or training in a theatre environment, specialising in scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Infection control.
    • Manual handling.
    • Patient safety principles.
  • Ability to:
    • Work under pressure.
    • Problem-solve and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to safe surgical practice.
