Theatre Practitioner – Woodlands Hospital (Darlington)
Location: Woodlands Hospital, Darlington Contract: Permanente Hours: 30 hours per week (flexible shift pattern) Salary: Up to £39,500.00 FTE per year (dependent on experience, training, and qualifications)

Circle Health Group is offering an exciting opportunity for a Theatre Practitioner to join their skilled team in Darlington.
Key Responsibilities
Core Duties:
- Support the surgical team by:
- Preparing instruments and maintaining sterility.
- Anticipating surgeon needs and ensuring equipment safety.
- Assisting with patient monitoring, airway management, and positioning under the Anaesthetist’s supervision.
- Providing post-operative care, including:
- Monitoring vital signs.
- Managing pain and nausea.
- Assessing patient readiness for discharge.
- Ensure adherence to all infection prevention and control policies at every stage.
- Set up operating theatres in accordance with surgical requirements and patient-specific needs.
- Check surgical and anaesthetic equipment pre-surgery and report any faults immediately.
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe and efficient surgical lists.
- Contribute to maintaining a positive, respectful, and efficient theatre environment.

Requirements & Qualifications
Essential:
- Registered with the NMC as a Nurse, or registered with the HCPC as an Operating Department Practitioner (ODP).
- Experience or training in a theatre environment, with expertise in scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery.
- A strong understanding of:
- Infection control.
- Manual handling techniques.
- Patient safety standards.
- Ability to:
- Work effectively under pressure.
- Problem-solve and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and a commitment to safe surgical practice.
