Theatre Practitioner Opportunity

We are recruiting for a Theatre Practitioner to our multi-disciplinary team who wishes to join #TeamIOWNHS. This is an exciting opportunity to work within perioperative care, we are seeking enthusiastic and highly motivated Theatre Nurses and Operating Department Practitioners with suitable knowledge, skills and experience registered with the NMC or HCPC. The role is based within the small and friendly theatre team based at St Mary’s Hospital, Newport.

You should share our passion and drive to ensure that our patients receive quality and compassionate care and work with us to ensure the Trust continues its journey towards "great people, great place".

Our Service

Our Service Consists Of:

  • 4 Main Theatres
  • 2 Day Surgery Theatres
  • 1 Ophthalmology Theatre
  • 1 Maternity Theatre

We Can Provide Experience In a Number Of Surgical Specialities Including:

  • General Surgery
  • Breast Surgery
  • Colorectal Surgery
  • Gynaecology
  • Obstetrics
  • Trauma & Orthopaedics
  • Urology
  • Emergency Surgery

Due to our unique, collaborative and innovative ways of working you will have opportunity to develop across the different disciplines within perioperative practice to include Post anaesthetic care, Scrub and, (dependant on qualifications) Anaesthetic roles.

We are looking for individuals with excellent interpersonal skills who can demonstrate their ability to work closely within the team to ensure a high standard of care is delivered to every patient in our departments. You will be expected to partake in all aspects of the clinical care within the perioperative care pathway and work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering care to patients undergoing both elective and emergency surgery.

Role Details

The role is full time, you will need to have a flexible approach to service provision which will involve evenings, weekends night duty and on-calls. A successful applicant must be adaptable to meet the demands of our busy department and to contribute to our 24/7, 365 service.

The successful applicant will mainly be based with the Main theatres team, although flexibility across all theatres will be required, and will be rostered to work a mix of duties including weekends, on-call and dependant on experience/role, Nights.

This post offers many opportunities through on-going education and development that is supported by our own Practice Development Lead.
