Theatre Practitioner – Orthopaedic Scrub
Location: Bath Clinic Hours: 37.5 (Full Time, Permanent) Salary: Up to £44,000.00 per annum (dependent on experience, training & qualifications)
A permanent full-time 37.5-hour role is available for a skilled Theatre Practitioner with specialisation in orthopaedic scrub. Joining Bath Clinic, part of Circle Health Group—Britain’s leading independent healthcare provider—you will contribute to a team delivering the most complex surgeries in private healthcare.
About the Role
Circle Health has an opening for a Theatre Practitioner with orthopaedic scrub experience. While the primary focus is orthopaedic theatre, responsibilities include scrub duties across all specialties offered at Bath Clinic:
- General Surgery
- Plastic Surgery
- ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat)
- Gynaecology (Gynae)
- Urology
- Cataract Surgery
- Endoscopy
The successful candidate must be prepared to cover a flexible shift pattern to support full operational capacity of the theatres.
Key Responsibilities
Assisting the Surgical & Anaesthetic Teams
- Prepare instruments and equipment while maintaining sterility and safety standards
- Anticipate surgeon needs to ensure smooth procedure flow
- Collaborate with the Anaesthetist in:
- Equipment preparation
- Patient monitoreing and airway management
- Ensuring correct patient positioning
- Provide post-operative care, including:
- Monitoring vital signs
- Managing pain and nausea relief
- Ensuring patient readiness for discharge

Theatre & Safety Management
- Adhere to infection prevention and control policies at all times
- Set up operating theatres based on surgery type and patient-specific requirements
- Check all surgical and anaesthetic equipment pre-use and report faults immediately
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to maintain safe and efficient surgical lists
- Contribute to a positive, respectful, and efficient theatre environment
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC)
- Experience or training in theatre scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery duties
- Comprehension of:
- Infection control protocols
- Manual handling techniques
- Patient safety standards
- Aptitude for fast-paced, high-pressure environments, with strong problem-solving and adaptability skills
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Unwavering attention to detail and commitment to safe surgical practice
- Essential: Previous orthopaedic and general surgery scrub experience
