Theatre Practitioner – Recovery
Bishops Wood Hospital Middlesex
Contract:
- Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
- Permanent
- Flexible shift pattern
Salary: Up to £39,000.00 per year (depending on experience, training, and qualifications)

Join our Theatres Department as a Theatre Practitioner in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment where precision and teamwork are paramount.
Key Responsibilities

Support Surgical & Anaesthetic Teams:
- Assist surgeons with instrument preparation, maintaining sterility, anticipating needs, and ensuring surgical equipment safety
- Support Anaesthetists in patient monitoring, airway management, and positioning
- Facilitate pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care

Operational Duties:
- Follow infection prevention and control policies at all times
- Set up and configure operating theatres based on surgery type and patient needs
- Conduct pre-use checks on surgical and anaesthetic equipment, reporting faults promptly

Patient Care & Safety:
- Monitor post-operative vital signs
- Manage pain and nausea relief
- Assess discharge readiness

Team Collaboration:
- Work multidisciplinary to ensure safe and efficient surgical lists
- Promote a positive, respectful, and efficient theatre environment
Role Requirements

Qualifications & Registration:
- Qualified Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC)

Experience & Skills:
- Experience or training in theatre recovery, scrub, anaesthetics, or related specialties
- Proven infection control, manual handling, and patient safety expertise
- Ability to work under pressure, problem-solve, and act decisively in fast-paced scenarios
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Attention to detail and commitment to safe surgical practice
