Theatre Nurse / ODP – Orthopaedic Scrub (RGN / ODP)
About the Role
Location: Haywards Heath Hospital | Department: Nursing Contract: Permanent | Working Hours: Full time Hours Per Week: 37.5 (includes weekend work) Salary: Up to £40,000 – dependent on experience

The Opportunity
As an Orthopaedic Scrub Practitioner or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP), you’re part of a high-performing team delivering Speed of Care™ – faster, more efficient surgeries without compromising quality. Here, you’ll bring focus, precision, empathy, and outstanding communication skills to ensure every patient receives excellent care in our cutting-edge operating theatres.
Key Responsibilities
- Work within a multi-disciplinary team to manage a diverse patient caseload, ensuring seamless perioperative care.
- Operate cutting-edge technology, equipment, and facilities in our well-equipped facility with three theatres, including a laminar flow suite.
- Supervise, support, and develop junior team members, fostering clinical growth through mentorship.
- Deliver high-quality perioperative care in a collaborative setting, grounded in evidence-based best practice.
- Focus on exceptional patient experiences, prioritising kindness, clinical excellence, and tailored care throughout surgeries and recovery.
- Opportunity for ongoing development, including eligibility for First Assist Surgical training.

Requirements
- Current registration as either a Registered General Nurse (RGN) or an Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with NMC or HCPC.
- Valid experience in scrub roles within a theatres environment, including orthopaedic surgeries.
- Commitment to patient-centred care, with high standards of safety, cleanliness, and clinical effectiveness.
- Ability to work effectively in a pressure-requiring, dynamic team, communicating clearly and calmly under demanding conditions.
