Job Summary

Theatre Practitioner (Bank Shifts) Salary: Up to £25.00 per hour (determined by level of experience, training, and qualification)

The Albyn Hospital, part of Circle Health Group (Britain’s largest independent healthcare provider), is seeking a Theatre Practitioner to join their team across roles in:

  • Anaesthetics and Recovery
  • Orthopaedic Scrub
  • General Scrub
  • Scrub Female Attendant (SFA)

Bank roles operate on an "as and when required" basis, supporting staffing during peak periods and covering leave/absence.


Key Responsibilities

  • Pre-theatre support: Prepare and maintain instruments, ensuring sterility; anticipate surgical team needs; oversee safe equipment handling.
  • Anaesthetics assistance: Help prepare anaesthetic equipment; support patient monitoring, airway management, and positioning.
  • Postoperative care: Monitor vital signs, manage pain and nausea in Recovery; ensure patient readiness for discharge.
  • Infection control: Strict adherence to policies and procedures in infection prevention.
  • Setup & maintenance: Prepare operating theatres per surgery and patient needs; inspect and report equipment faults.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve timely, safe surgical outcomes.
  • Safety & culture: Contribute to a professional, respectful, and efficient working environment.

Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Registered Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) practitioner or Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Operating Department Practitioner.
  • Proven experience or training in theatre environments (e.g., scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery).
  • Strong knowledge of infection control, manual handling, and patient safety principles.
  • Ability to work under pressure, solve problems, and adapt to dynamic situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Unwavering attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to safe surgical standards.
