Theatre Supervisor
The Old Joint Stock is one of Fuller's traditional 'Ale and Pie' pubs, popular with Birmingham's after-work crowd. The Georgian pub also boasts its own theatre, offering a lively atmosphere on show nights.
This Theatre Supervisor role offers a unique opportunity for someone looking to take the next step within the creative and theatre industry. Alongside supervising within the venue, the successful candidate will gain hands-on experience across directing, casting, marketing, producing, creative development, and wider theatre operations connected to the venue’s producing work. It is an ideal opportunity for an ambitious early-career creative hoping to one day become an Artistic Director, Director, or Producer, offering invaluable real-world experience and industry exposure from day one. While the role is entry-level in pay, the level of involvement, responsibility, and creative opportunity makes it an exceptional stepping stone for somebody passionate about building a long-term career in theatre and the arts.
Responsibilities
- To oversee the action - keeping the energy high, the service flowing, and the guests happy.
- Serving customers and working the bar, while also focusing on the team.
- Passing on wisdom and experience to keep service levels high.
- Taking pride in premium quality products and ensuring customers have a brilliant time.
- Helping to train new staff and see them flourish under guidance.
- Gaining hands-on experience across directing, casting, marketing, producing, creative development, and wider theatre operations.

Requirements
- Ambitious, organised, proactive, and creatively driven.
- Strong work ethic and a genuine passion for theatre and live entertainment.
- Excited by responsibility and eager to immerse themselves in all aspects of running and growing a busy fringe theatre operation.
- Confident managing multiple projects at once.
- Communicating professionally with creatives and performers.
- Working both independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Hungry to learn, develop, and become a key part of the theatre’s future.
- Bar experience is ideal.
- Social media experience is a bonus.
- Character, ambition, and personality are more important than previous experience in a similar role.
