THEATRES SCRUB NURSE / PRACTITIONER (OPHTHALMIC) – JOB SHARE AVAILABLE
Location: Gateshead Hours: 34.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 08:00 – 18:00 Job Share: Available for those able to commit to set days Travel: Flexibility required to work across nearby clinics when needed
ABOUT THE ROLE:
We’re looking for Theatres Scrub Nurses or Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs) to join our dedicated team, with a focus on ophthalmic procedures. Ophthalmic experience is preferred but full training can be provided for the right candidate.
PAY RATES:
Shift Type PAYE Umbrella Weekdays £32.50 £36.98 Saturday £35.00 £39.83 Sunday £38.00 £43.24
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver pre- and post-operative patient care, including diagnostics.

Admission and discharge of patients on theatre days.

Administer medications according to NMC standards.

Record keeping in line with NMC guidelines.

Provide scrub assistance for clinical procedures.

Support consultants in delivering ophthalmic care.

Ensure clinical areas and equipment are prepared and compliant.

Participate in weekend/on-call rotas.

Maintain stock levels and manage theatre equipment daily.

Ensure patient confidentiality (Data Protection Act).

Undertake ALS training and cover nearby clinics when required.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
KNOWLEDGE:

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Understanding of ophthalmic procedures

Familiarity with private healthcare systems
SPECIALIST SKILLS:
-
Ophthalmic experience preferred
-
Theatre scrub experience essential
