Job Description
Please note: at this stage, the role is open only to colleagues currently employed within Kent and Medway NHS Trusts, the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Medway Community Healthcare. Nursing vacancies are also open to Student Nurses and Newly Qualified Nurses.
The Role
The Therapeutic Worker plays a vital role in supporting patients’ physical, emotional and psychological wellbeing through meaningful, person‑centred reablement activities. Working closely with the therapy and nursing teams, you will help design and deliver a varied programme of group and individual activities that promote independence, confidence and quality of life.
Evidence shows that purposeful activity reduces hospital‑acquired deconditioning, improves mood, lowers fall risk and supports recovery. Your work will be central to each patient’s rehabilitation plan, helping them prepare for discharge and maintain progress at home.
You will coordinate an inclusive timetable of therapeutic activities tailored to individual needs, collaborating with external partners, charities and volunteers to enhance the inpatient offer and support ongoing engagement after discharge. As part of the multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to holistic patient care within your scope of practice and may work across different community hospital sites to meet service needs across Kent and Medway.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
