£25,837.50 pro rata (Full-time equivalent, DoE pay scale, Permanent – Term-Time only) 37.5 hours per week (Mon–Fri 08:30–16:30)
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our developing, dedicated team of clinicians at Norton College, delivering high-quality support to our young learners.
Key Responsibilities
- Work alongside Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists, providing specialist support to profoundly improve the quality of life for our students.
- Contribute to evidence-based assessments and interventions, including creating communication and sensory profiles, reviewing placement plans, and delivering bespoke sessions under clinical supervision.
- Support the education team (teachers, therapists, and families) in facilitating meaningful engagement, 1:1 and group interventions, and educational development.
- Assist with observations, staff training (co-facilitation), multi-agency meetings, and fostering continuous service development.
- Opportunity for ongoing professional development through internal forums, mentorship, and funding for external training.
Who We Are Looking For
We seek a Therapies Assistant with:
- Relevant experience supporting young people with special educational needs (SEN) and/or social emotional and mental health (SEMH).
- A proactive approach, working under supervision while showcasing strong problem-solving skills and creative thinking to develop tailored interventions.
- Flexibility to adapt to our students’ complex needs within a collegiate, interdisciplinary team environment.
Ideally, bring:
- Threading experience as a therapy assistant or equivalent.
- Familiarity with educational settings.
- Proficiency in individual and small-group therapy delivery.

Essential Criteria
- 5 GCSEs (Grade C/4 and above), including English.
- Post-16 qualifications directly related to the role (e.g., therapy assistant training, SEN courses).
- Proven experience working with SEN/SEMH children.
- Demonstrated adaptability toward further certified qualifications if necessary.
Advantageous
- ** Therapy assistant or allied health roles** (occupational therapy, psychology, speech therapy, etc.).
- Understanding of personalised education plans (PEP) or LAC-SPD (specialised education provision).
- Experience in collateral communication: translating technical information for families, staff, and professionals.
- Organised nature with reliability in managing administrative tasks and logistics for a multi-professional team.
