Therapy Technician
Part-Time Therapy Technician – Department: Care
Location: Sutton Scotney
Compensation: £29,559 – £31,713 per year (pro rata for part-time)
About the Role
We are searching for a Part-Time Therapy Technician to join our Naomi and Jack’s therapy team on a permanent basis. This role provides a unique opportunity to work directly with babies, children, young adults (BCYA), and their families.
You will support qualified therapists and independently deliver therapeutic activities, either in 1:1 sessions or group settings, including:
- Positioning support and physiotherapy programmes
- Promoting and practising functional tasks
- Hydrotherapy sessions
- Activity inclusion plans
The role is largely practical, with additional responsibilities for administration, data entry, and other operational tasks.
Key Responsibilities
We are looking for an enthusiastic, fun, caring, and diligent person passionate about supporting BCYA and their families across Naomi House and Jack’s Place during therapy interventions, respite care, day services, symptom management, or end-of-life care.
Core Duties:
- Assist qualified therapists in delivering therapy treatments for a wide range of BCYA
- Support BCYA and their families during respite care, day services, symptom management, or end-of-life admissions
- Liaise with community services (e.g., wheelchair services, therapy providers, schools)
- Manage a small independent caseload of patients, including:
- Treating, monitoring, and making minor alterations to therapeutic plans based on physical, emotional, developmental, cognitive, and social needs
- Leading independent and joint sessions with therapy staff
- Conducting outpatients-style sessions (on-site or in the community)
- Build a positive rapport with BCYA and families to encourage participation and emotional support
- Work across different environments, including:
- Hydrotherapy pool (must be water-confident)
- Naomi House
- Jack’s Place
- Community settings if required
- Handle administrative tasks, such as:
- Managing IT systems (booking appointments, data recording, databases)

Required Skills and Experience
Essential Criteria
✔ Proven experience working with BCYA who have physical and cognitive impairments ✔ Excellent communication skills (adaptable to suit BCYA, families, and multidisciplinary teams) ✔ Good physical fitness, with the ability to:
- Use therapeutic handling techniques
- Work on the floor
- Assist patients with complex needs
- Handle hydrotherapy pool tasks independently ✔ Basic IT proficiency for electronic patient records, databases, and scheduling ✔ Ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks, problem-solve, and adapt to changing workloads ✔ Awareness of professional boundaries and when to escalate concerns ✔ Experience handling challenging and emotive situations with resilience ✔ Demonstrates active coping strategies in potentially demanding roles

Desirable Qualifications
- A Level 4 qualification (or equivalent) in health and social care or an BCYA-related field
- Prior work experience with BCYA

Salary: £29,559 – £31,713 per annum, band 4-equivalent.
Hours: 30 hours per week (negotiable days/hours based on a 5-day therapy service model).
