3rd in Charge – Kiddi Caru Day Nursery, Rushden

About the Role

Our Kiddi Caru Day Nursery in Rushden, part of Grandir UK, is seeking a 3rd in Charge to help lead, manage, and inspire our team in delivering outstanding early years care.

As the 3rd in Charge, you will:

  • Work alongside the nursery leadership to maintain high standards of early years provision.
  • Support children’s well-being, play, learning, and development with care and creativity.
  • Maintain strong relationships with staff, parents, and carers.
  • Help implement best practices from Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
  • Support and mentor team members to ensure they thrive in their roles.

Responsibilities

  • Create a nurturing environment: Tailor care to each child’s individual needs, ensuring a safe, engaging, and stimulating atmosphere.
  • Monitor & improve childcare quality: Assess and refine practices to meet EYFS standards.
  • Effective communication: Keep staff, parents, carers, and children informed and engaged.
  • Collaborative leadership: Work closely with the nursery team to achieve shared goals.
  • Budget & reporting: Ensure the nursery operates efficiently within financial constraints.
  • Safeguarding commitment: uphold Grandir UK’s policies on child safety—enhanced DBS required.

Requirements

  • Passionate about early years education and child development.
  • Strong management experience in a nursery or childcare setting.
  • Ability to mentor and support staff while maintaining professional standards.
  • Decision-making, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • A clear DBS check (enhanced) will be mandatory.

Bonus: Love for rhymes, songs, and stories (it helps to know who ate the buns!).
