Third in Charge – Bright Horizons Crouch End Day Nursery and Preschool
Salary: Starting from £34,132.80 per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience) Location: Crouch End, London

Striving to make a difference through quality childcare, we’re seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Third in Charge (EYE) to lead our 79-place, Ofsted ‘Good’ rated nursery in Crouch End, London.
About the Role
Our bright, modern nursery boasts:
- Two age-appropriate outdoor learning zones, including a private beach, jungle walk, outdoor classroom, and look-out tower
- Proximity to Crouch Hill Overground Station and nearby Victoria Line access
As Third in Charge, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring exceptional care, early education, and developmental support for children aged 0–5. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading, mentoring, and supporting a team of Early Years Educators, Room Leaders, and Practitioners
- Ensuring high standards in health, safety, and safeguarding (including acting as Designated Safeguarding Lead when required)
- Maintaining strong partnerships with parents, carers, and external professionals
- Promoting the nursery to enhance retention and occupancy, while engaging with the Local Authority to advance early years practices
- Overseeing curriculum implementation and observation-based progress reviews

This role is calendar-based with occasional weekends and evenings required during Ofsted inspections and transition periods.

Requirements & Qualifications
To excel in this role, we’re looking for candidates with:
- Full, relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification (e.g., Early Years Educator, NNEB/NDL, or equivalent)
- At least 1–2 years of experience in an early years setting, ideally in roles such as:
- Third in Charge
- Room Leader
- Early Years Educator
- Exceptional ability to lead, mentor, and support staff with confidence in decision-making and delegation
- Strong safeguarding and child protection knowledge, aligned with current legal frameworks (Working Together to Safeguard Children, EYFS, etc.)
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build trust and collaborative relationships with:
- Colleagues (teamwork is essential!)
- Parents and carers
- Flexibility in multitasking, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting, safeguarding updates, and parent-staff interactions
