3rd Line Service Desk Engineer

  • Excellent opportunity to join a growing Managed Service Provider delivering tailored IT support, cloud solutions, cyber security, and consultancy services to a broad client base.
  • Full-time, permanent role focused on 3rd line support, technical escalations, infrastructure maintenance, and project delivery within a structured MSP environment.
  • Hands-on position working across Microsoft technologies, networking, virtualization, cloud platforms, cyber security tools, and automation, with regular client interaction.
  • Office-based role in Botley with regular travel to customer sites.

Who is the client?

Our client is an established UK Managed Service Provider delivering high-quality IT support, consultancy, and strategic technology solutions to organisations across a range of sectors. They pride themselves on building long-term client relationships through proactive service delivery, technical expertise, and a collaborative approach. Due to continued growth, they are looking to expand their Service Desk with an experienced 3rd Line Service Desk Engineer.

What will you be doing?

As a 3rd Line Service Desk Engineer, you'll act as a senior technical escalation point, taking ownership of complex support issues while ensuring excellent service delivery across a varied client portfolio.

  • You'll troubleshoot and maintain a wide range of technologies including Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Azure, networking infrastructure, virtualization platforms, security solutions, and backup environments.
  • Alongside resolving high-level incidents, you'll perform root cause analysis, infrastructure maintenance, patching, and contribute towards continual service improvements.
  • The role also offers the opportunity to support technical project work, including migrations, upgrades, and new technology implementations.
  • You'll work closely with senior engineers and project teams while building trusted relationships with clients through regular onsite visits and outstanding technical support.

What will you need?

  • Minimum 5 years' experience within IT support or Managed Services
  • Strong experience supporting Microsoft infrastructure including Windows Server and Microsoft 365
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills across networking, servers, virtualization and cloud technologies
  • Experience working with PowerShell and automation
  • Ability to manage complex technical issues through to resolution
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle

What would be desirable?

  • Previous experience working within an MSP environment
  • Microsoft or Azure certifications
  • Experience supporting Linux and Mac environments
  • Knowledge of Hyper-V, VMware or other virtualization platforms
  • Exposure to cyber security technologies including SIEM and MDR solutions
  • Experience working within ITIL or SLA-driven service environments
  • Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery solutions
