Event Technician – Thorpe Park Halloween 2026 (RWS Global)
About the Role
RWS Global is seeking highly skilled event technicians to support the Halloween season at Thorpe Park, with contracts starting in August/September 2026 and running through November 2026.
As part of the event technical team, you will play a critical role in ensuring seamless operation, safety compliance, and technological excellence across all RWS Global events & experiences. From power systems and signal routing to lighting, audio, video, and effects, your expertise will deliver unforgettable guest experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Technical Duties
- Ensure full compliance with UK health and safety legislation (Health and Safety at Work Act 1974), as well as all local and international regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
- Act as a lead contact for the technical operation and maintenance of event systems, including:
- Day-to-day power up/down, show operation, and fault finding
- Maintenance, monitoring, and record-keeping of all technical systems
- Troubleshooting and resolving unplanned system failures to ensure maximum reliability and availability
- Conduct routine and emergency compliance paperwork and documentation.
- Perform install (set-up), rigging, and strike (de-rig) of technical equipment—both indoor and outdoor—adhering to safety and industry best practices.
- Operate and maintain systems to hospitality and legal standards, ensuring guest safety and experience quality.
- Diagnose, repair, and replace equipment as needed to minimise downtime.
- Continuously innovate and suggest system improvements or upgrades.
- Review show reports and technical feedback to proactively address issues.
- Champion high safety and operational standards in all tasks.

Requirements
Essential Criteria
- Working knowledge or hands-on experience in entertainment industry technical systems, including:
- Lighting (e.g., Chroma Q, Chanels)
- Audio (e.g., Behringer, Yamaha digital sound desks)
- Video & show control
- Audio transmission (IMs, wireless mics)
- Special effects and rigging
- Familiarity with network-based control systems (e.g., Ethernets/IP, QLab, QSYS).
- Understanding of UK health and safety legislation (e.g., PPE use, high-work regulations, electrical safety).
- Safety experience with:
- Power tools, ladders, aerial platforms, and electrical systems
- Manual handling, kneeling, bending, and working at heights
- Comfort operating in fast-paced environments, often standing or manually working for extended periods.

Preferable Experience
- Practical knowledge of Holiday Lighting Systems (e.g., low-voltage lighting installations, decor rigging).
- Valid UK Full Driver’s Licence (desirable but not essential).
- Proficiency in IT networking protocols (e.g., CAT5 cabling, signal routing).

- Excellent technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong planning, scheduling, and time management abilities.
- Strong verbal communication to liaise effectively with teams.
- Proactive attitude—owns challenges and seeks improvements.
- Physical resilience—able to work in all weather conditions alongside heavy equipment.
Salary & Contract
- Hourly rate: £15 per hour (full-time contract).
- Dates: Starts August/September 2026, ends November 2026.
