Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a TIG Welder Fabricator, based primarily at BD MARINE LTD’s facilities in Southampton, with some work from home possible for planning, documentation, or remote collaboration tasks. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Performing TIG welding on a variety of metals commonly used in marine applications
  • Fabricating components and assemblies from technical drawings
  • Carrying out repairs and modifications on vessels and marine structures
  • Measuring and cutting materials
  • Preparing and fitting parts
  • Ensuring that all work meets safety, quality, and industry standards

The TIG Welder Fabricator will also:

  • Collaborate with engineers and other team members
  • Maintain tools and equipment
  • Complete necessary job records and documentation

Qualifications

  • Strong TIG welding skills with experience working on stainless steel, aluminum, and other marine-grade metals.
  • Proficiency in metal fabrication, including cutting, forming, and assembling components according to technical drawings or specifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions accurately.
  • Good understanding of marine safety practices, relevant welding standards, and safe use of tools and equipment.
  • Relevant welding or fabrication certifications, apprenticeships, or vocational qualifications are highly beneficial.
  • Previous experience in marine, industrial, or structural fabrication environments is an advantage.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable time management and flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and project schedules.
