AI Data Operation Specialist – TikTok Live Moderation (Berlin)
About the Role
The livestream industry has seen tremendous growth in recent years and has become the next growth driver for TikTok Global Business. This role is essential for upholding content quality across the TikTok Live platform.
As an AI Data Operation Specialist, you will:
- Lead quality initiatives in content moderation, leveraging both human labelling and machine learning models, including Large Language Models (LLMs)
- Ensure accurate and effective moderation across the platform through training, calibration, and iterative improvements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address complex content challenges
Critical requirements for this role include:
- Strong analytical thinking and a results-driven mindset
- High ownership of processes and continuous improvement
- Adherence to policy compliance and risk sensitivity
- Fluency in both technical and interdisciplinary discussions
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Benchmarking & BPO Team Support
- Manage content quality benchmarking across Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) teams
- Oversee onboarding, training, and calibration of new BPO teams
- Clarify policy ambiguities, resolve content arbitration disputes, and improve calibration processes
- Analyze BPO performance metrics, identify knowledge gaps, and systemic workflow issues
2. Content Labeling & Trend Analysis
- Execute cross-functional content labelling assignments based on business needs
- Conduct trend analysis on labeled datasets to derive actionable insights
- Independently drive quality-focused initiatives to enhance moderation efficiency
- Present findings and recommendations to project teams and stakeholders
3. AI Model Training & Optimization
- Train AI/ML models using labelled datasets to improve decision-making accuracy
- Assist in data preparation, cleaning, and structuring for model training
- Fine-tune and test models to measure performance improvements
- Highlight LLM decision-making gaps/edge cases with actionable examples
- Collaborate with algorithm teams to refine model outputs
- Support reinforcement learning (e.g., RLHF)** and hybrid human-AI moderation approaches**

4. Data-Driven Process Improvement
- Extract correlations/trends from moderation and labeling datasets
- Provide data-driven recommendations for market-specific adjustments
- Develop supported case studies for impact analysis and strategic planning
5. Quality Artifacts & Process Engineering
- Maintain a central repository of quality-related documentation and artifacts
- Prototype technical solutions (e.g., automation, tooling) to enhance moderation workflows
Minimum Qualifications
- Relationship: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Communications, or a related field
- Experience: 3+ years in AI-enabled operations, content moderation, data analytics or product operations, preferably in tech, digital platforms, or live Stream environments
- Technical Proficiency:
- Expertise in Excel, Tableau, Power BI, or similar data visualization tools
- Basic understanding of machine learning fundamentals and Large Language Model (LLM) architectures
- Ability to dissect complex datasets, identify data trends, and translate insights into impactful action programs
- Language Skills:
- Native English proficiency (written and spoken) to facilitate daily cross-team collaboration
- Fluency in German required to support localized regional monitoring, especially for German-speaking moderation workflows
Preferred Qualifications
- Emotional Resilience: Experience reviewing/disturbing content with neutrality and objectivity
- Data Acumen: Demonstrated ability to influence strategy and optimize operations through data insights
- Resilience & Adaptability:
- Thrives in high-velocity, rapidly evolving environments
- Self-motivated, solves problems proactively and without micromanagement
- Enhanced ML Knowledge:
- Solid grounding in ML evaluation metrics (e.g., precision, recall, bias mitigation) and tuning techniques
- Experience with Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF) is a significant plus.
- Human-centred AI Interest:
- Curiosity about LLM behavior, user experience, and ethical AI applications
- Enjoys developing synthetic use cases and engaging in critical discussions around large-scale annotation challenges
