Role Description The Timber Frame Structural Engineer will work on the design and analysis of timber frame and SIPs structures for residential and commercial projects. Day-to-day tasks include performing structural calculations, assessing load paths, and carrying out structural analysis to ensure safety, serviceability, and compliance with relevant standards. The role involves producing and reviewing structural drawings and details using CAD tools, coordinating with architects, timber frame suppliers, and site teams, and preparing clear technical documentation and reports. The engineer will support project delivery from initial concept through to construction, providing technical guidance and resolving design-related queries. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Coventry.

Key Responsibilities
- Produce structural calculations, design reports, and engineering specifications.
- Develop timber frame solutions for residential, commercial, education, and multi-storey projects.
- Coordinate with architects, developers, contractors, and internal design teams throughout project lifecycles.
- Review architectural and structural drawings to identify potential design issues and propose practical solutions.
- Ensure designs comply with Eurocodes, Building Regulations, NHBC requirements, and company standards.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing, estimating, and site installation teams.
- Attend project meetings, site visits, and client consultations as required.
- Assist with the development of engineering procedures, standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Mentor and support junior engineers and design technicians where appropriate.
Required Qualifications and Experience Essential
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng, MEng, or equivalent).
- Experience in structural design within the timber frame, timber engineering, or offsite construction sector.
- Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and load path analysis.
- Proficiency in structural design software and engineering calculation packages.
- Knowledge of Eurocode 5 and relevant UK building regulations.
- Ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Desirable
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards chartership through a recognised institution.
- Familiarity with timber engineering software such as MasterSeries, iCalc Xpress, EuroBeam, IDEA Statica, Tekla Structural Designer & Tekla TEDDs, or similar.
- Experience of MMC (Modern Methods of Construction) and offsite manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of sustainability principles and low-carbon construction methods.
