Join the National Transport Casework Team and play a key role in delivering statutory casework on behalf of the Secretary of State for Transport. From processing Stopping Up Orders to supporting applications for major road schemes from Local Authorities and National Highways, your work will directly shape the UK’s transport network.
We’re looking for a confident, organised and detail-focused individual who thrives on managing their own caseload. Reporting to a Team Manager, you’ll take ownership of your work, with opportunities to support and lead colleagues while using your strong communication skills and flexible approach to deliver high-quality outcomes.
This role requires a confident, dedicated and well-organised individual with a keen eye for detail. Reporting to a National Transport Casework Team Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing and processing your own caseload, with possible line management of staff. Essential skills include:

✅ Key Responsibilities
- Assessing applications to ensure consistency, accuracy and comprehensiveness of proposals in line with legislation and permitted development.
- Collaborating with stakeholders such as developers, local authorities, Highways England, and the Planning Inspectorate.
- Identifying connections between different orders, ensuring concurrent action where necessary. Providing advice to applicants and keeping interested parties informed at key stages.
- Arranging public inquiries, producing recommendations and draft decision letters following inspector reports or after considering written objections.
- Ensuring appropriate conditions apply for the authorisation/extension of temporary traffic regulation orders.
- Drafting Orders, notices, and related plans.
- (Potential) Line management responsibilities.
