We’re Hiring: Toll Collector Supervisor

📍 Location: Plymouth, UK
💷 Pay Rate: £14.10 per hour
⏰ Hours: 48 hours per week
🕒 Shifts: Varying shifts and timings, including days, nights, and weekends

Job Description

As a Toll Collector Supervisor, you will play a key role in on-site operations, overseeing and supporting the work of each toll collector while managing the receipt and accurate recording of all cash, cheques, vouchers, and debit note transactions. You will ensure the integrity and validity of all transactions processed by every toll collector and maintain precise and compliant records. The role also includes responsibility for employee training, staff supervision, shift coordination, and ensuring each toll collector follows toll collection procedures and safe working practices.

Responsibilities

You’ll play a vital part in keeping people, property, and information safe. That includes:

  • Oversee all on-site staff, conducting regular welfare checks within toll booths.
  • Verify that all cash floats are accurate at the start of each duty and promptly resolve any issues arising within the toll plaza.
  • Manage staff rosters, sickness absences, and return-to-work meetings as required.
  • Maintain effective communication with the Site Manager at all times.
  • Act as the primary out-of-hours point of contact in the event of staff sickness or operational issues.
  • Operate lane equipment and ancillary devices with precision and professionalism.
  • Open and close toll booths using appropriate signage and manage traffic flow with the use of traffic cones.
  • Classify vehicles and collect toll payments in accordance with the approved Toll Schedule.
  • Maintain accurate cash records, prepare deposits, and ensure the secure transportation of cash containers.
  • Respond to driver enquiries in a courteous and efficient manner, escalating complex issues when necessary.
  • Uphold high standards of professionalism and adhere to dress code requirements at all times.
  • Ensure full compliance with operational procedures and health and safety regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with the Bridge Control Room and promptly follow all instructions received.
  • Undertake violation procedures and report any unusual occurrences, incidents, or system failures.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies within each booth and provide assistance during emergencies when required.
  • Prepare clear and accurate reports and statements, interpreting information from various sources as necessary.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the Securitas Core Values of Integrity, Vigilance, and Helpfulness, while proactively identifying risks in the workplace and prioritising safety in line with company policies, procedures, and training.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for someone who sees a different world—someone who values teamwork, shows initiative, and wants to grow. Ideally, you’ll have:

  • Be flexible to work days, nights, weekends, and shift patterns as required.
  • Have the legal right to work in the UK.
  • Be able to provide a five-year checkable employment history, including supporting documentation for any periods of unemployment, self-employment, or full-time or part-time education.
  • Demonstrate strong written and spoken English communication skills, meeting statutory English language requirements for Public Sector Workers.
  • Be educated to secondary school level or equivalent.
  • Possess practical IT skills relevant to the role.
  • Demonstrate the ability to embody and uphold the Securitas core values of Integrity, Vigilance, and Helpfulness.
  • Proven ability to deliver excellent customer service with clear and effective communication skills.

Desirable

  • Previous experience within a customer service environment.
  • Emergency First Aid at Work certification.
  • Prior experience within the service sector.

Compensation

GBP 14.10 - GBP 14.10 - hourly
