Job Title: Tool and Plant Test and Repair Technician
Location: Bristol Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:30–17:00 (~42 hours per week)
About the Role
At Speedy, the UK & Ireland’s leading hire provider, you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining our extensive range of tools, specialist equipment, and plant. As a Tool and Plant Test and Repair Technician, you’ll perform essential tasks in our depot:
- Conduct basic electrical testing (12/24v) and functionality checks
- Service, clean, and inspect products returned from hire to ensure they meet safety and presentability standards for the next customer
- Help keep thousands of tools and pieces of plant in optimal condition, ready for our customers

Responsibilities
Your day-to-day tasks may include:
- Testing and repairing electrical and mechanical components of tools and plant equipment
- Servicing, cleaning, and calibrating returned hire items to company standards
- Ensuring compliance with safety regulations for each piece of equipment
- Assisting in inventory management and tracking
- Supporting your team in delivering our ESG Strategy: Decade to Deliver

Requirements
To succeed in this role, you’ll need:
- Basic electrical skills (experience with 12V/24V systems preferred)
- Practical mechanical skills and the ability to use basic hand and power tools effectively
- Strong communication—both written and verbal, to interact with colleagues and customers
- Previous experience in the hire industry or engineering would be beneficial (but not mandatory)
