The Role

Tool Change Setter/Fitter (Injection & Blow Moulding)

Hours of Work: 10am – 6pm Monday to Friday

The Role/Key Responsibilities

Mergon UK are looking for a Tool Change Setter & Fitter to join our team in Blackburn. The role will involve:

  • Carrying out tool changes on blow and injection moulding machines in line with setting sheets and defined target times
  • Preparing all secondary equipment required for production and ensuring correct operation
  • Completing all tool change paperwork accurately and on time
  • Identifying and reporting defects with mould tools, dyes, secondary equipment, or machinery
  • Supporting basic equipment maintenance (e.g., granulators and power packs) when required
  • Returning tools and dyes to the toolroom and maintaining excellent housekeeping and safety standards

To be successful in this role, you will likely have:

  • FLT driving qualification
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience completing tool and dye changes on injection and blow moulding machines, with the ability to follow structured setting documentation
  • The ability to work under pressure to meet time targets and be able to adapt quickly to unplanned priorities
  • Lifting and slinging experience
  • A proactive approach to problem solving, health and safety, and continuous improvement
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • A willingness to undertake any necessary training to fulfil the duties of the role

KPIs/Success within the first year

  • Achieve and improve on all standard tool change target times without compromising safety
  • Contribute to reduced changeover times and increased machine uptime
  • All tool change paperwork completed accurately
  • Demonstrate good understanding of all moulding machines and associated equipment
  • Be confident supporting the Engineering team with basic maintenance
