Job Description
Educational requirements
High school diploma or GED and similar work experience.
Reports to
Tool Crib Assistant Manager.
Primary job responsibility
Maintaining knowledge of and demonstrate proficiency in safe operation of furnace, lathe, and other equipment used in the cleaning and polishing of tooling in a manner that has minimal damaging effects on tooling. Perform quality control for tooling.
Essential functions
- Clean and polish all extrusion tooling coming in from the manufacturing floor
- Gather and stage tooling for jobs according to position in queue
- Issue tooling and inspection gauges for each job
- Provide a high level of customer service by assisting all internal customers
- Maintain technical knowledge in order to provide accurate, valid and complete information to customer questions/concerns
- Aid and/or resolve issues in a timely manner with a positive can-do attitude
- Maintain tooling and Tool Crib in a clean and organized condition
- Inspect tooling using vision equipment, pin gages, eye loupe, and other appropriate measuring devices, to verify Microspec specifications and ISO quality requirements are being met
- Complete inspection sheets for all new tools and any other additional tools as required
- Perform calibration of all measurement equipment that is located within the tool crib
- Have ability to read work order histories and determine the appropriate tooling and gauges to stage for the upcoming jobs
- Enter data into tracking system, track and monitor usage of tooling, and complete PM work orders
- Preparation of appropriate documentation
- Work independently and as part of a team
- Other job functions as requested to support the facility’s daily operation
