Tool Hire Driver / Fitter
Tool and Plant Hire Advisor – Nationwide Branches

Main Purpose
To ensure the efficient running of Tool Hire, building strong relationships with customers and staff to maximise sales potential and maintain premium customer service. Promote MKM as the merchant of choice in your geographical area.
Sales & Service
- Build and maintain profitable customer relationships, including:
- Resolving complaints efficiently
- Preparing, loading, and unloading orders safely and correctly
- Addressing technical faults and repairs promptly
- Load and unload vehicles with small plant, tools, and alloy towers
- Process sales orders and delivery schedules accurately and promptly
Supporting All Company Initiatives
- Deliver continuous improvements in customer experience through:
- Representing the company
- Meeting diverse customers and visiting multiple locations daily
- Manage Tool Hire reports, prioritising Health & Safety compliance
- Oversee Health & Safety for employees, customers, and self:
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Tool Hire H&S procedures
- Ensure all safety requirements are met and H&S certifications are maintained
- Identify local market challenges and relay insights to managers to support sales growth strategies
- Process cash payments in line with company procedures
- Conduct daily and weekly vehicle checks

Stock & Inventory Management
- Help supervisors manage stock levels, including:
- Verifying incoming goods against delivery tickets
- Participating in inventory stock takes
- Ensuring all sales orders and maintenance records are up-to-date
Product Knowledge
- Maintain current product expertise for accurate customer conversations
- Provide specialist advice and product information
Presentation & Organisational Skills
- Support supervisors in stock management and daily reconciliations
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Essential Requirements
- Valid full, clean driving licence required
- Class 2 (Category C) licence + valid CPC and Digi Tachograph cards mandatory -Professional Health & Safety awareness, abiding by relevant legislation
- Market and product knowledge essential
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team
- Flexible, enthusiastic approach with a commitment to outstanding customer experience
- Strong customer relationship-building skills
- Mechanical aptitude (understanding equipment servicing and repairs)
- Organisational skills to manage stock levels efficiently

Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths & English
- Prior experience in sales or customer-facing roles
- IT proficiency
- While HGV driving experience is preferred, newly qualified drivers are welcomed
- Background in the tool hire/rental sector advantageous
