Location – Blackwood
Duration – Permanent
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Tooling & Maintenance Technician to join our growing aerospace MRO team. Working within an EASA/CAA/FAA Part 145 environment, you will play a vital role in ensuring all tooling, specialist equipment, and controlled instruments used in the repair and overhaul of thrust reversers and nacelles are compliant, maintained, and ready to support production.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a strong engineering background who enjoys solving technical problems, supporting production teams, and maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and airworthiness.
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
Tooling Management & Compliance:
- Managing the issue, return, storage, and control of tooling across the production facility.
- Maintaining tooling inspection and calibration schedules; quarantining expired or unserviceable tools.
- Ensuring tooling complies with EASA/CAA/FAA Part 145 requirements, customer specifications, and company procedures.
- Supporting production by ensuring mechanics have the correct tooling available to meet operational priorities and turnaround times.

Fabrication & Workshop Support:
- Fabricating, modifying, and welding jigs, fixtures, shop aids, and specialist tooling.
- Supporting workshop operations with engineering solutions to improve efficiency and quality.
- Operating manual machining equipment such as mills and lathes (desirable).
Engineering Support:
- Providing practical engineering support across the business to resolve tooling and maintenance issues.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, geometric tolerances, and technical specifications.

Metrology & Specialist Equipment:
- Using advanced metrology equipment including Faro laser trackers and scanning arms (desirable).
- Supporting work involving composite materials and carbon fibre components (desirable).
Position Qualifications:
- Recognised engineering qualification or equivalent engineering background.
- Experience within an aerospace MRO, manufacturing, or engineering environment.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
Skills and Special Attributes:
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Good communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritise workload and support production in a fast-paced repair environment.
- Knowledge of EASA/CAA/FAA Part 145 regulatory requirements (desirable).
