Tow Driver – Sherburn-in-Elmet

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and professional Towing Driver to join our team in Sherburn-in-Elmet.

This role involves the timely and efficient delivery, collection, and handover of hire equipment to and from customer sites. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in driving and towing, a commitment to safety, and excellent customer service skills.

  • Depot Manager

Liaising With

  • Customers
  • Depot Staff
  • Hire Desk Administrators

Key Responsibilities

Delivery and Collection

  • Safely load, transport, deliver, and collect hire equipment to and from customer sites.
  • Conduct thorough handover processes, ensuring:
    • Equipment is operational.
    • Appropriate instructions are provided.

Inspection and Documentation

  • Inspect equipment for damages or shortages during collections.
  • Accurately record findings using the company tablet, including:
    • Photos of any damages.
    • Obtaining customer signatures.

Vehicle Maintenance

  • Perform daily vehicle checks.
  • Report any defects promptly.
  • Ensure vehicles are serviced at correct intervals.
  • Adhere to all relevant legislation:
    • Proper use and timely downloading of digital tachographs.

Health and Safety Compliance

  • Follow company health and safety policies and procedures during operations.
  • Maintain safe loading and unloading practices.
  • Ensure proper securing of loads.

Teamwork and General Duties

  • Collaborate with:
    • Depot staff.
    • Hire desk administrators.
  • Assist with additional tasks as requested by the Depot Manager.

Essential Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years’ driving experience with a valid UK driving licence.
  • Proven towing experience, including use of digital tachograph cards.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on accurate reporting and documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to interact:
    • Polytely and professionally with customers.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience (but not mandatory)

  • Previous experience in a similar role within the hire or logistics industry.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to:
    • Transport.
    • Equipment delivery.
