Linesperson – Permanent (Full-Time, Onsite) | South of England
Base Locations
Reading, Slough, Southampton, Portsmouth, Aldershot, Andover, Basingstoke, Farnham, Newbury, Oxford, Petersfield, Thatcham, Melksham, New Forest, Poole, Salisbury, Swindon or Yeovil.
Salary & Benefits
- Base pay: £40,525 – £48,427 per annum
- Overtime available for additional hours
- Accommodation/lodging allowance if working remotely outside the area
- Double-time pay for Sundays
- Full PPE and tools provided
- Access to a company vehicle with fuel card
- 37-hour basic working week (with available overtime)
- 26 days paid annual leave (+ bank holidays)

About the Role
We keep the lights on for millions across the UK—and you’ll play a critical role in that mission. As a Linesperson, you’ll work with our skilled teams to maintain, repair, and inspect overhead electrical power lines (33kV & 132kV) while responding to faults and emergencies quickly to ensure customers stay powered.

You Will Be Responsible For
- Performing overhead line inspections and maintenance on electricity networks
- Supporting construction projects related to high-voltage cables
- Safety & compliance – ensuring your own and team safety across all work
- Acting as an ambassador for our strong safety culture
- Responding quickly to faults in all weather conditions
- Operating both in structured patrol schedules and emergency callouts
This role is outdoor-intensive, often in varying weather—and when unexpected power failures occur, your ability to act decisively can directly impact customers.
Key Requirements
You’ll need: ✔ Proven electrical field experience with a hands-on practical background ✔ Knowledge of overhead power lines and tower structures ✔ SSE or equivalent DNO Operational Authorisations (or certified Tower Rescue training) ✔ A leadership mindset – including managing challenging work environments ✔ Experience working outdoors in all weather, including fast response under pressure ✔ A full, valid UK driving licence
