Linesperson Role – Permanent Full-Time (Onsite) – South England
Base Location: Reading, Slough, Southampton, Portsmouth, Aldershot, Andover, Basingstoke, Farnham, Newbury, Oxford, Petersfield, Thatcham, Melksham, New Forest, Poole, Salisbury, Swindon or Yeovil.
Salary: £40,525–£48,427 per annum (+ overtime available)
Working Arrangements
- 37-hour basic working week with additional hours available as overtime
- Accommodation/lodging allowance if living outside the area
- Double-time pay on Sundays
- Working weekends, including evenings
- Full PMP and all required tools provided
- Company vehicle + fuel card access
- 26 days paid annual leave + bank holidays

About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Linesperson to join our team in the South of England, supporting the critical task of maintaining our electricity infrastructure. The role involves:
- Overhead line inspections and maintenance across our 33kV & 132kV networks
- On-call emergency response to ensure rapid fault resolution for customers
- Armour-plating our network against all weather and operational demands
You’ll be part of a skilled operational team at the frontline of network stability, ensuring uninterrupted power supply to 3.9 million homes and businesses.
Your Responsibilities
• Part of a team tasked with inspecting, maintaining, and repairing overhead power lines and associated structures in various weather conditions • Directly contribute to overhead line maintenance and emergency fault response to meet precise SLAs • Act as a safety ambassador, ensuring adherence to strict operational standards and HSE guidelines • Supporting high-voltage project works and cable team handovers where needed • Working on both 33kV & 132kV overhead networks

You’ll face fast-paced, high-pressure situations with responsibilities including rapid fault detection, dispatch, and resolution – both day and night.
Key Requirements
Experience
- Proven electrical experience with a practical background, preferably on overhead power lines and towers
- Experience working safely outdoors in all weather conditions, including (but not limited to) viewpoints, tower climb scenarios, or router planking
Qualifications & Licensing
- Valid UK driving licence (Fully disqualifications excluded)
- SSE or equivalent Distribution Network Operator (DNO) Operational Authorisations
- Valid Tower Rescue training credits
- Experience as an engaged Health & Safety observer is desirable
