Your Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced Senior Consultant to join our team, specialising in town planning and consenting inputs for major and nationally significant infrastructure projects. This demands:
- Demonstrating expertise in working within multi-disciplinary teams to secure consent and approvals, aligning with:
- Town and Country Planning Act 1990
- Planning Act 2008
- Transport and Works Act Order
- Planning (Wales) Act 2015
- Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act
- Electricity Act
Your core responsibilities include:
- Helping prepare Town & Country Planning Act applications for infrastructure projects across the UK
- Supporting consenting inputs for major infrastructure projects, including:
- Development Consent Orders (DCOs)
- Determination Not to Seek Orders (DNSs)
- Transport and Works Authorisation Orders (TWAOs)
- Providing technical advice to project managers to meet client requirements
- Mediating and liaising with statutory bodies and stakeholders on behalf of clients to smooth project delivery
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to build cohesive, productive relationships
- Proactively upskilling to develop your expertise—and contribute to the team’s internal knowledge base

Requirements and Qualifications
To thrive in this role, you will:
- Have a degree-level qualification in town planning (or equivalent)
- Be a Member (or eligible for Membership) of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI)
- Bring demonstrable experience in securing consents for major or nationally significant infrastructure projects
Ideal candidates will additionally possess:
- Strong consulting and stakeholder management skills in planning and consenting domains
- Proven ability to work across complex and cross-sectorial projects
- A keen interest in sustainable infrastructure, net zero, and modernising energy systems
