Town Warden
Town Warden – Community Safety Role
Location: Dartford, DA1 area
Position Overview
- Salary: £13.45 per hour (paid weekly every Friday)
- Hours: Up to 40 hours per week
- Shifts: Monday–Sunday, with two rest days on a rolling rota (shift times: 08:00–16:00 or 10:00–18:00)
- Requirement: Must hold a valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence
About The Role
We are recruiting for a Town Warden in the Dartford area to support community safety, crime prevention, and public reassurance initiatives. This is a frontline, customer-facing role, where you will:
- Patrol public areas and act as a visible presence to deter crime and anti-social behaviour.
- Work closely with local businesses, the Local Authority, and partner agencies to help keep Dartford town centre safe.
- Play an important role in identifying and reporting incidents, gathering information, and supporting Kent Police in tackling crime and protecting the local community.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct high-visibility foot patrols throughout Dartford town centre and surrounding areas.
- Engage professionally with businesses, retailers, and the public to create a safer town centre.
- Build trust with business owners, gathering local intelligence to share with authorities.
- Observe, record, and report criminal or suspicious activity via official channels.
- Document evidence to support investigations where needed.
- Respond to incidents like shop theft, anti-social behaviour, or suspicious activity by escalating as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records, intelligence logs, and daily activity reports.
- Collaborate with Kent Police, Local Authority, retailers, and stakeholders to improve community safety.

What We’re Looking For
- Valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence – essential.
- Full 5-year checkable work history.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confident, professional, and approachable demeanour.
- Ability to build trust with businesses and the community.
- Strong observational skills with attention to detail.
- Calm, sound decision-making in challenging situations.
- Flexibility to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Desirable (but not essential): Previous experience in security, community safety, neighbourhood policing, or public-facing roles.
Training & Development

- Structured induction covering:
- Community safety, crime prevention, and conflict management.
- Effective communication, incident reporting, and reporting channels.
- Partnership working with Kent Police, Local Authority, and businesses.
- Patrol procedures, public engagement, and equipment use.
